Easter Cookies
After MANY requests from Cole to make our sugar cookies, the time had finally come! Our dough had refrigerated for 2 days and was now ready to be rolled out. I pulled the dough from the refrigerator about an hour ahead of time to become pliable enough to roll out, without crumbling. We got all our tools ready and floured our bread board to get started, the only thing left to do was preheat our oven to 350 degrees.
Here is a photo journey of our process this evening ...
we rolled out the dough,
placed our cookie cutters where we would like to press on our dough,
and once our shapes had been formed
we placed them on our cookies sheets.
Once the shapes were on our cookie sheets, we used our tools to create designs
Our first batch is now ready to bake!
We baked our cookies for 8 minutes. Braydon was loving on his puppies and feeding them during our down time ...
When I wasn't looking, he decided to make designs of his own on the dough that sitting aside for our following batches, gotta love it!
After 8 minutes our cookies were done. If you prefer them a bit crispier, leave them in longer but be careful of the thickness of your cookie and the smaller cookies as they will burn quickly.
On our second batch, we decided to spruce them up a bit with some color, using our sanding sugars
Braydon was feeling mischievous today as he poured the blue sugar ALL over the egg, thankfully it shakes right off!
We lightly pressed the sugar into the cookies to ensure that it would stick while baking. Time to bake the second batch for another 8 minutes.
During this waiting period, the boys fed their puppies their pretend cookies-
while I put some flowers in a vase ... I absolutely love flowers- I just hope they last until Easter!!
All done!
Nothing left to do now but to clean up the mess and eat!!
Happy baking!
i love all the fun things you do with your boys! i'm excited for my kids to be a little older to do these things with them. I also LOVE flowers and yours look so pretty.
